Application Requirements

4TH INTERNATIONAL DARICA SHORT FILM COMPETITION
APPLICATION CONDITIONS

This competition is organized throughout Turkey and is open to everyone over the age of 15.
A person can apply with only one work.
Anyone over the age of 15 can apply.
Individual applications will be accepted for the works to be applied to the competition, and applications made on behalf of a class, school, institution, etc. will be considered invalid.
Participation in the competition is free.
The competition covers short films that will deal with the theme of “Family and Artificial Intelligence”. In this context, all kinds of fiction, documentary, animation films with the theme of “Family and Artificial Intelligence” will be evaluated in the competition.
Scenario: Must be based on an original idea and must not be a quote.
Films sent to the competition must not have been previously published and/or received any awards. Works found to be in this way and/or copied will be excluded from the competition. Participants whose works are understood to have been previously published and/or received an award in a competition will be removed from the final list even if they make it to the finals. Works from the reserve list will be taken in their place. The works to be submitted to the competition must comply with the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey, the Basic Law on National Education, the basic purposes of Turkish National Education, general morality, social peace and the Turkish family structure. Works that do not meet these conditions will be disqualified.
The necessary changes and discretionary authority regarding the application principles and issues not included in the application during the competition process belong to the Darıca District Governorship. The changes to be made are final and cannot be objected to.
Productions that are contrary to the laws and international agreements within the scope of the current laws of the Republic of Turkey regarding broadcasting, and productions that insult any nation, country or religion or have a propaganda nature, support violence, war, drug use, do not comply with general morality, serve political purposes, praise any kind of fanaticism and productions that contain advertising elements cannot participate in the competition; works sent to the participation address from such works will not be evaluated.
The owner of the work accepts that all legal and criminal liability regarding the copyrights of the film belongs to him/her. Any copyrights arising from the use of non-original text, images, music, etc. in the short films to be submitted to the competition are the responsibility of the owner of the work.
The producer and director (author) are responsible for obtaining the explicit consent of the actors in the work and the persons whose images, sounds, etc. reveal or may reveal their identities in the work, in accordance with the Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data and other relevant regulations.
Applicants must complete their applications through the website opened specifically for the competition until July 25, 2025. They accept that the actors in the film have made explicit statements and declare that the film they shot and the images and sounds used in the film are original.
English subtitles must be added for applications made domestically, and Turkish subtitles must be added for applications made abroad.
If the above conditions are not met, the film will not be evaluated.
Before the announcement of the results of the competition, the Darıca District Governorship has the right to cancel the competition, cancel the competition or change the final date at any stage without giving any reason.
Participants in the competition are deemed to have accepted all these conditions.
TECHNICAL CONDITIONS
Films that do not exceed 10 (ten) minutes, including the credits, can apply.
Works shot in genres such as fiction, documentary, experimental, animation, etc. can apply, provided that they are suitable for the theme.
Applications will only be accepted on the internet (website). Applications will not be accepted otherwise.
Films must be in MP4 format.
The resolution of the films participating in the competition must be 1920×1080 pixels.
Films can be shot with a mobile phone-camera or a photo camera.
Applications will be made via the internet (website).
Applications that do not comply with the above conditions will not be evaluated.

PUBLICATION AND COPYRIGHT OF WORKS
The copyrights of all works applied to the competition belong to the owner of the work, regardless of whether they are awarded or not. Darıca District Governorship will obtain the right to print, publish, share and exhibit the works with the consent of the owner of the work.
Participants are deemed to have accepted and committed to all provisions of the Darıca Short Film Specification.
The Darıca District Governorate has the discretionary authority to resolve issues and disputes that are not covered by the specifications.
The works participating in the competition will be kept in the Darıca District Governorate.
The participant accepts, declares and undertakes that the work sent to the competition belongs entirely to him/her. All legal responsibilities that may arise from the works being quoted and/or stolen belong to the owner of the work.
If it is understood that the participants who receive an award have acted outside the declarations and acceptances, the award, title and all kinds of gains they have received will be taken back.
The Darıca District Governorate is not responsible for any material or moral disputes that may arise between the owner of the work and third parties who claim rights.
In the event that a right and interest that is an intellectual and industrial property in the films is violated, all administrative, legal, penal and financial responsibilities arising from this belong to the competitor.
All legal responsibilities that may arise from the works participating in the competition being copied from other places (not being an original work) or the work being quoted or stolen belong to the competitor. For these reasons, if the Darıca District Governorship suffers any damage, the relevant contestant will cover all damages of the Darıca District Governorship. If such a situation is detected, the award will be taken back even if the work owner is awarded. In this case, the contestant will refund the amount paid to him as an award to the Darıca District Governorship within 10 days from the first request of the Darıca District Governorship.
Those who do not receive their awards within 10 days from the award night will not be able to make any claims.
All legal responsibilities arising from the use of non-original text, content, design, image, music, etc. in the works sent to the competition belong to the contestant.

This year, the Darıca Short Film Competition invites you to explore the impact of technology on family relationships through the language of cinema with the theme of “Family and Artificial Intelligence – Family Values ​​Changing with Technology”. How is artificial intelligence changing parenting roles? How is communication between our elders and children affected by this transformation? How are love, commitment and trust shaped in the digital age?

This competition supports creative perspectives that question the balance between traditional family values ​​and the technological world of the future. Every story to be told about the transformation of the concept of family invites us to think about a common future.
